Data Breach at LinkedIn – Change Your Passwords

Yesterday reports surfaced of a data breach at LinkedIn.  LinkedIn has verified this reporting.  The hacking of passwords effects several million of LinkedIn’s 100 million users.   However, many times these hacks are used to access sites well beyond just the hacked site.  Many users have the same user name and password combinations on multiple networks.

At Merlot Marketing, we are resetting all of our passwords.  We are changing personal passwords as well as those we use for our client work.  We’d recommend that you to do the same.  Any log in that you use with the same user name and password combination (Facebook, Hootsuite, Twitter, Gmail, etc..) should also be changed.  We recommend this strongly to assure the integrity of your social media accounts.
