Walker Zanger hosts first Kaza Design Competition in North America

Our client Walker Zanger, the world’s most comprehensive stone and tile company, debuted the new Kaza collection earlier this year. Kaza balances artistry and technology, incorporating artful concrete design and customized 3-D textural elements to transform an industrial product into a luxurious tile with interchangeable textures, patterns, and colors. Kaza has redefined concrete with a bold and modern sensibility, taking the design community by storm. The collection has received industry-wide recognition with Best of KBIS 2016 Kitchen Product Gold and the IIDA HD Expo Awards, as well as numerous editorial features in top-tier publications.

And the excitement around the Kaza collection doesn’t stop there. Walker Zanger has partnered with Architectural Digest to launch the Kaza Design Competition, which offers all aspiring and established designers and architects the chance to have their original tile design added to the Kaza collection.

Entrants are tasked with designing a decorative concrete wall tile that complements the current Kaza collection. The design should be aesthetically pleasing, visually exciting, as well as practical for widespread application and use. The designs can be showcased as a single pattern or one that consists of differently shaped tiles that create a uniform surface when installed together.

In addition to manufacturing and producing the winning design, Walker Zanger will supply royalties from product sales to the winner and send him or her on a three-day trip for two to Budapest, Hungary for an exclusive Kaza tile manufacturing tour. The winner will be announced in November 2016 at a celebratory event in New York City.

This is a unique opportunity for designers and architects to bring new inspiration to the Kaza collection, and submissions are accepted until September 30, 2016. The esteemed panel of judges includes design luminaries from architecture, interior design, fashion, and an editor from Architectural Digest.
